Timba music is a rich convergence of Cuban cultures and rhythms.
Aché means life energy in African Yoruba tradition.

We're here to create space for dancers to encounter and interpret Cuban Timba music, grow community and spread the joy of dance.  While we provide a ground for entrance to the art form, more importantly we connect our local community to a global culture of Timba music and Cuban dance.  We hope to inspire joy and vibrancy from our collective love of Cuban music and dance.

Our TimbAché community will offer classes, workshops, and events to explore music and dance together.  We encourage travel to gain exposure to Cuban teachers and live musicians to connect more directly to Cuban cultural context and art form.  When possible, we'll bring Cuban trained teachers refine the practice.

In addition, Radio TimbAché broadcasts explore music and history.

YouTube playlists provide music and visual access to Timba Artists and dancing.

Spotify playlists give you access to music to throw down yourGuarachar whenever you feel like dancing!

Connect to TimbAché through the form on the right to stay up to date on classes, workshops, events and social dances. Promise no spam just actual useable information about opportunities to join us for music and dance.

INSPIRATION

A dancer's connection with the music is a dynamic art form inspired by the relationship, the conversation, between the musicians, their instruments, and the dancers, expressed through body movement.

Cuban Timba fuses cultures and rhythms from musical traditions intermingled through the colonial slave trade. French, Spanish, American, and Latin American rhythms combine with African percussion, song, and story, to create the richness that inspires TimbAché,  Cuban Dance Connection.

TimbAché celebrates Cuban Timba music, with the spirit of Aché, the life-giving force from Yoruba traditions, connecting our community to the vibrant infectious rhythms of Cuban dance.

Its founder, Alicia Leinberger, is inspired to share her love of Cuban music and dance, after a few years traveling to receive lessons and go to Festivals in Cuba, Europe, and the US.  Through TimbAché she and others introduce basic Cuban Timba music and dance formation and footwork.

Workshops from visiting instructors and encouraging participation in outside festivals will round out our local connection to the larger global Timba and Casino community.
